Please rinse your food containers.

Remembering to rinse your plastic is important to everyone.  If you have unrefrigerated food containers sitting open, it invites fruit flies, flies, gnats, and other creatures that you don’t want roaming around the office.  Also by rinsing your recyclables you won’t have any smells emanating from your recycle bin.  By rinsing the containers you are sure not to gum up the equipment at the recycling centers.

It is best to rinse out your food containers with warm or hot water.

Water containers do not need to be rinsed.  They just need to be emptied.

Caps and labels can be left on the containers for recycling.

If the recyclables have food remnants, they could become trash.

Interesting information about plastic.

Did you know that plastic takes well over 1,000 years to decompose?

Did you know that in the Pacific Ocean there is a place called Great Pacific Garbage Patch?  The garbage patch consists of plastic and other trash floating in the water.  The garbage patch is double the size of Texas, 540,000 sq miles, 300 feet deep, and weighs over 3.5 million tons.

For more information on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch check out PBS’s Wired Science.

All the plastic and trash hurts all kinds of wildlife when they get caught up in the plastic or eat plastic mistaking it as food.  Don't let your trash end up in Great Pacific Garbage Patch; recycle it today with Paper Dragon Recycling.
